These courses are aimed at volunteer surveyors who want to take part in NARRS and/or conduct other surveys of amphibian and reptile populations to expand our knowledge of them and contribute to their conservation. In some cases, a small charge for refreshments and/or food may apply.

 

1.      JERSEY: Saturday 18th February

A refresher for anyone wanting to do NARRS surveys in Jersey.

Contact Nina Cornish (n.cornish@gov.je) to take part.

 

2.      GUERNSEY: planned for Saturday 2nd March

The very first NARRS-style training in Guernsey! To hop on board please contact Jane Gilmour (jane.gilmour@cwgsy.net).

 

3.      WEST MIDLANDS: 21st and 22nd March in Moxley, Walsall, in partnership with Birmingham and Black Country Living Landscapes.

4.      LONDON AREA: planned for Hillingdon (TBC) 3rd and 4th April, in partnership with the CLARE (Connecting London’s Amphibian & Reptile Environments) project. Get out and discover the amphibian and reptile populations still lurking in the capital! Contact Sophie Hinton (Sophie.hinton@arc-trust.org) for details.

 

5.      GWENT, WALES: amphibian and reptile survey training (2 courses) on 20th and 21st April, in partnership with Gwent Wildlife Trust. See their events diary http://www.gwentwildlife.org/GWT_EventsProgramme2012.pdf for details and to register.

 

6.      YORKSHIRE DALES NATIONAL PARK: planned for Saturday 5th May in partnership with the National Park Authority. Join us to learn techniques which will add to our knowledge of the herpetofauna of this lovely area! Contact Ian Court (ian.court@yorkshiredales.org.uk) if interested.

 

7.      In addition to the above, ARC is running a number of courses, of interest to volunteers and professionals alike, in conjunction with the Field Studies Council.
