National Reptile Survey - Survey Pack

Note that if you attend a training event, you will be issued with all the materials needed to take part in this survey, and you do not need to download anything here. However, if you cannot attend training or wish to begin surveying sooner, you will need to download all the survey materials here. We apologise that some of the files are very large (up to 5MB), but they cannot be compressed any further. If you are not on broadband, it is probably best to try and find somewhere/someone that can download them for you.

You can download all the necessary documents and forms for the National Reptile Survey pack in one go by clicking here. Alternatively you can download items separately using the links below.

You should read these documents and then sign and return a NARRS Volunteer Agreement. Note that the agreement contains a licence section which is only relevant if you are likely to encounter protected species, and can only be signed if you have been issued with a licence accreditation letter (see below).

Protected species licensing

If you are likely to encounter protected reptile species while taking part in NARRS surveys (sand lizard, smooth snake), you will need to be licensed.

  bullet
If you do not have your own licence, but you attend a training event, you will be issued with a licence accreditation letter adding you to the HCT’s licence (subject satisfactory completion of the training).

  bullet
Alternatively, if your local ARG has a licence, you may be able to get accredited on it.

  bullet
Otherwise, if you do not attend training but need to be licensed, you will need to contact us directly to present your credentials for adding you to the HCT licence.

Once you have received a licence accreditation letter from us, you must sign the licence section on the NARRS Volunteer Agreement in order to be covered.

You must be registered to take part in NARRS. If you have only just registered, you will be contacted within a week to allocate you a survey square.
